Need alpha SORT order for Products

    I have seen that there is a plugin available to do this. However, that particular plugin is not compatible with my PHP version and I am loathe to update this and deal with other things that might break.

    My products are showing in all sorts of weird order that does not make sense. Is there any easy way to get these in alphabetical order?
    One hack I have considered is to edit the date on each one to falsely create an order that mimics alpha order. My products are relatively static so once set this could stay that way.
    I have about 50 products so I would rather find a way that automatically sorts in alpha order as this seems like such a basic function I cannot understand why this is not a default option?!
