Can't change Background while Sticky to Top

I created a section/custom header that contains a menu and appears on all pages. I enabled Scroll Effect > Sticky to Top with Absolute/Relative/Fixed position (i've tried them all) and Z-Index 500 so the custom header blends nicely with the fullwidth slider.

In this section, I want the background color to change when the page is scrolled up and the section becomes sticky. But when I go to Section Settings > Background, the Sticky icon doesn’t appear — even though I’ve already enabled Sticky to Top in the Scroll Effect settings. Because of that, I can’t set a different background color when the section is sticky.

You can check the case here:

Would really appreciate your help, thank you so much in advance.

    Hey Syauqie,

It looks like your header has the sticky affect applied to the row, rather than the section. The sticky icon for the background only appears, I believe, in the settings of the element which is set to sticky - meaning that the sticky icon would be available on the row background, not the section background.

To set your background, you should be able to either:

    a) Set the sticky background color on the row, and make the row full-width (to avoid gaps at the sides), or
    b) Move the sticky settings from the row to the section, then you should be able to set a sticky background color on the section.

    I hope that helps!

Will try to fix this and get back here with the results.

    Thank you!

I have edited as you suggested: remove the Sticky on the Row and apply on Section only. Still no Sticky option to change the background color on the Section :(

Changed the Position to Relative, Absolut and Fix, still the same.

    Thank you..

That's odd... when I try, I get the sticky icon as soon as I enable "Sticky to Top", but I can see you aren't.

One option, once you have the sticky options set on the section, is to change the background using CSS, e.g.:

    Code:

I'm afraid I don't know why the sticky icon is missing on your site. You could try temporarily disabling your plugins in case something is interfering with it. Otherwise it might be worth getting in contact with Elegant Themes - it might be something they are aware of / have a solution for.

    Sorry for delayed reply.

I have tried to contact Elegant Themes support, but somehow they are using an AI chatbot. tried the solutions provided, but yeah..

I have tried starting over from the beginning. In the Theme Builder, I created a Module containing a Menu. Then, I applied a Fixed Position to this Section, placing it at the top left. Up to this point, the Section was already working as intended.

Next, I applied “Stick to Top” to this Section. This is where the issue occurred — the Sticky icon did not appear in the Background, Sizing, Spacing, and other settings. I have tried setting it to “No Sticky” and then reapplying “Sticky to Top” multiple times, but the icon still does not appear.

I also tried applying Save Mode, but it still did not work.

I will keep trying throughout this weekend. If it still doesn’t work, I will explain the situation to the client as it is.

    Thank you so much!

Hmm... interesting. I just tried repeating what you've done and I didn't get the sticky icon either.

But then, while trying to figure out what was happening, I switched "Stick to Top" to "Stick to Bottom", and the icon appeared. Moreover, it remained visible when I switched back to "Stick to Top".

I tried again to see if I could repeat this "fix", but it didn't work. However, when I switched the "Fixed" position back to "Default" it got the icon showing again, and once again it remained visible when I switched back to "Fixed".

I tried a third time and the icon showed immediately.

So it sort of looks to me like there's some sort of intermittent bug with it.

I haven't been able to figure out the underlying issue or a reliable solution, though. Perhaps try toggling the settings some more (e.g. in the ways I mention) to see if that gets it displaying. Otherwise, I'd either try styling with CSS (as per my earlier answer), or try and get past the ET AI bot and see if there human support team have any insight.

    Good luck!
