Divi wraps <p> around shortcode in text module - not consistent

Strange issue in Divi where if I use a shortcode in a post via Divi, <p> tags are wrapped around it after saving. But this does NOT happen if I edit a post first using "Build on Front End".

If the post was already saved from the Divi standard layout editor (the screen where you'd see the WP classic editor), then you see the <p> tags wrapped around the shortcode in Chrome Inspector though the <p> tags don't show in the editor. However, if you open that post again in the Divi Build on Front End editor, you will see the <p> tags. Here you can remove them and save. But if you make any other changes to the page in the standard Divi editor, it will again wrap the shortcode with <p>.

I noticed that the text editor looks different depending on whether you use the Divi editor or Divi Build on Front End. I'm guessing this has something to do with it. I attached a screenshot of the Divi editor text module in standard view which looks different with more options than the Divi Build on Front End view.

I also added the removal of the Wordpress wpautop filter in my functions.php file, but that doesn't seem to affect this.

Any way around this? Screen Shot 2019-09-23 at 2.23.42 PM.png

This is definitely an issue with the global text modules which are part of a global Divi section. The <p> wrapping issue does not occur with the same shortcode in other non-global text modules. Thanks for the support link.
