Help - I am trying to get a caption or an excerpt to show below the image in the Filterable Portfolio. Is this possible? TY

Hi Kim, I know this is old, but I found this when I was trying to solve the same thing.

I was able to resolve it with a $15 plugin called DP Portfolio Posts Pro at http://www.diviplugins.com/divi/portfolio-posts-pro-plugin/

Thought it prudent to add this in case others are searching for a solution :)

    Hello!

Search results show the excerpt, the filterable portfolio unfortunately not.
I found out there is a 'function' the_excerpt, but i have no clue on how to use this.

(I believe this can be solved without buying a plug-in)

    Who can help me?

    Cheers,

    Tim

That would require editing the portfolio module file in your child theme, which is not easy & not recommended as it might break in future Divi updates.
**Here's an example of editing an existing module: https://intercom.help/elegantthemes/en/articles/2865589-moving-contact-form-module-to-child-theme

Perhaps you might want to use blog module instead. You may choose to show the projects post type & it will show excerpt. But you can't choose to filter it by category.

If not, you will have to find some other plugins to achieve that.
