Solved Module settings toolbar not appearing when I click on text

I'm editing a page developed by another user.
When I click on one Divi text module a black toolbar is displayed with the cog icon (Module settings) as the first item - I can then edit the text. This is shown in the attached image.

On an adjacent Divi text module no matter where I click on it, I cannot get the black toolbar to appear.

Can you please suggest what I'm doing wrong. Thanks.

Not quite sure what's the issue you're having.

Anyway, you can try different mode & see which suits the best. See screenshot below:

As for those you can't select through Visual Builder, you can use the Wireframe mode:

The problem is when I move the cursor to the text box starting "One of the …" and click I cannot get the black toolbar to be displayed. I can get it to be displayed on the title above and on the image to the right. I don't know why I can't on that specific module. I'm not sure if there is a specific part of the text module I have to click. The text module will turn grey but when I click on it if nothing happens.

For that case, it's best for you to refer official Divi support to troubleshoot further: https://www.elegantthemes.com/members-area/help/

For a quick workaround, you may just use the wireframe mode to edit it (as stated in previous post).

Before I try that - how do I access the Builder Settings?
    Thank you.

What do you mean by Builder Settings?

    Are you referring to this:

In your Visual Builder, click this icon:

    upload_2020-4-3_12-56-14.png

    And you will see this:

    upload_2020-4-3_12-58-8.png

Similar to how you save your page.

Thank you - I see that 'button' is at the bottom of the page. I can now see the different modes.

I wondered if the reason I could not edit the text module was because it was locked by the administrator.
Is there a way I can check is a module has been locked?

I could edit a similar text module on an other page, therefore I copied that row, pasted it, edited it and deleted the row that did not work. Therefore I worked round it.

If the module is lock, you will see this:

    Visual Builder (hover or click):

    Wireframe Mode:

After some more investigation I wonder if the reason I cannot edit some modules is because of the Role Editor. The Role Editor has only allowed me access to certain basic module types. When I go to create a new module only 4 types are available text, button, image & gallery - I know that one of the modules I was trying to edit were 'Call to Action'.
Do you think this is the cause of the problem?

If that's the case, why not try to go to Role Editor & enable everything?

I'm the Role Editor and it is now OK.
