Solved Play video icon overlay not showing on blog

Hi there. I'm using the global post body to template video posts, and I want to use the featured image overlay, but I can't get the play video icon to show on the blog post. It only seems to work if I avoid the divi template and editor and just use gutenberg. I even tried posts not using the global post body, just the divi editor, still no go. Am I missing something or is this an issue? My website is http://russelll12.sg-host.com/

Are you referring to this post (built with Divi)?

What I see is a normal video module. Any issue with that?
**Perhaps I misunderstood what you said. If that's the case, kindly elaborate more on your issue.

I didn't explain that well, sorry. There are several complicating issues. After I made the post here, I managed to get blog module posts to display correctly on the front end by using the default editor. However when you click on the thumb, such as the one you illustrated the actual post doesn't display the overlay image or the overlay play icon.

A complication is that I normally use the divi editor for standard posts, but if I accidentally go into divi after I have set up a video post in the default editor, it actually breaks up the featured image and the video into two separate containers on the single post page. I can sort of accept this because I'm going from gutenberg to divi editor.

I then tried using the divi editor to apply the overlays, however divi displays both the play icon and the featured image in the post but only the featured image on (not the play icon) the front end thumbnail. See http://russelll12.sg-host.com/video-post-using-global-editor/ This is a little more difficult to accept since divi went to the trouble to allow posters to add the overlays for the single posts (even generating images from video), surely those same overlays should be showing on the front end thumbnails. I wonder if I am doing something wrong here.

And if I go back into the default editor I lose all the content I added in the divi editor. I really don't understand why the platform makes it so easy to lose stuff if you accidentally go into the wrong editor. Is it that I am going about this the wrong way also?

Ideally I would rather just work in divi editor because I can do more there. So it would seem that I need some css to ensure the play icon shows on the front end thumbnail. I do have a workaround, which is a lot more work. I can place a play image onto a feature image in photoshop, and set the divi icon to transparent.

Now I get what you meant.

Seems like a Divi bug to me. CSS alone can't resolve the issue. Will need jQuery to add the play icon.

You may try the below code in Divi > Theme Options > Integration > Body Code to add the play icon:

There is still a wrinkle with this solution. It appears to work only on grid blogs, not full width blogs. Example of both - see Test Video on page http://russelll12.sg-host.com/landing-4/

Top blog post is full-width and doesn't show the play video icon, whereas immediately below it the thumbnail which is a grid blog shows the icon. I can't see the class .et_pb_image_container for the full width blog post. I noticed the same thing happening on other pages.

Yep, that appears to have fixed it. Hopefully there are no other instances. Thank you for your time, and expertise.
