Solved Instead of Arrows I get numbers

I'm building a site which appears to have a problem with arrows. When I first load the site there are 3 4 places that have arrows, 2 for drop down menus and 2 yo move forward and back on a slider. I get the number 3 on both drop downs and the numbers 4 and 5 on the slider.

If I go to a different page using the menu the drop down arrows come back and look normal and the slider arrows work fine. Any help with this would be great. If more info is needed let me know and I'll provide it.

 

I carefully read the info in the two threads. They gave me a direction to look having to do with .htaccess I haven't been able to resolve this yet but I think I'm on the right track. A curious thing is, the problem is only on the home page and only when it first loads. If I go to another page and then go back the issue is solved.

 

I was hoping you were correct. Unfortunately the link I use to get in there is https. One thing I did note that while using remote on the customer's machine and going to the site the issue was gone. Perhaps this is something on my computer except I see it using 2 different browsers
