Divi Theme Builder: An unknown error has occurred

    Hello,

    I currently have Divi version 4.9.4 installed.

    Recently I have run into an issue where, in the "Theme Builder", after selecting the edit button beside any page template, it opens the page and loads for about a minut before having a popup saying "An unknown error has occurred. Please try again later".

    There is also another issue, which may be related, where the backend builder for pages in general is not working(I have "Enable Classic Editor" enabled). For this, when I go to edit a page, it also seems to load for a while, before simply displaying a "broken page" icon in its place.

    I have tried running in safe mode, but the problem persisted. I have also tried rolling back to version 4.9.3 using Divi Rollback, but this also didn't solve the issue. However, I believe it is actually update 4.9.3, not 4.9.4 which caused this issue. I believe this to be the case because I hadn't tried using the Theme Builder between May 1 and May 13, so I didn't realize until after the 4.9.4 version that this was an issue, and also because in the changelog for 4.9.3 it says "Fixed Theme Builder not saved properly when has many templates." The last time it was working for me was April 15, which was with version 4.9.2

    I would like to rollback to 4.9.2 to see if that fixes the issue, but the Divi Rollback doesn't seem to go back more than on version, and I can't seem to find previous version files anywhere to manually rollback.

    Since I can't edit this(why is there a 10 minute time limit for editing??), I'll just reply to myself. I just realized that the release date for the latest version (4.9.4) is actually April 13, not May 13, so it was before the last time I successfully used the Theme Builder. So, it probably wasn't the update that caused the issue.

    However, it still stands that I have tried using "safe mode" and the issue I'm having persists. If anyone has any insights as to what might be causing the problem, I would greatly appreciate it. I can provide any additional information as needed. This is a huge problem for me, as there are certain crucial aspects of my website which cannot be modified due to this issue.

    The latest version 4.9.4 has been there for quite some time, but so far I don't see any others talking about this issue. Thus, it might not be a Divi theme issue.

    Since you already tried Safe Mode, but it's still not working, then it might be:
    1. Browser cache issue. Try to clear your browser cache & any cache plugin on your site & see if it works.
    2. CDN. If you have it, try to disable it & see how it goes.
    3. Server cache. Try to ask your host on how to clear server cache.
    4. PHP version. Change it to PHP 7+ & see if it works.
    5. Try to fulfill server requirements stated in WP Admin > Divi > Support Center > System Status
