Solved Header template with background image drop down menu

    I have made a header template with an image below the menu bar.. the drop down menu is ok on the template but when I view it on the page, it goes behind the text on the image see the pic.

    can anyone tell me what I might have done wrong.. or how to get the drop down menu to show abover the image text.
    I also want to do a text overlay on the header text so it stands out better from the image but cannot find how to do that. thank you
