Homepage Visual builder redirects to homepage URL

Hi, I've been unable to use the visual builder on the homepage of my website for a couple weeks. The visual builder URL redirects to the homepage URL. I have no idea where this is coming from but I have a redirections plugin that showed this in the logs.

I manage all redirections myself and I have never put in place this one, I would have no reason to. I've talked to the Divi support and they told me they can't do anything and that I need to remove the redirection, but I don't know how to do it. My hosting company tried to solve the issue but weren't able to.

Is this an issue anyone has ever had with the Divi builder? I have version 4.27.1 installed with the most recent WordPress version as well (6.6.1).

    Hey Guillaume91,

    I haven't encountered this before, I'm afraid.

One thing I'd do though, is check for anywhere that you're redirecting to a canonical version of the homepage, e.g. from "https://yoursite.com/" (with the final slash) to "https://yoursite.com" (without the final slash). A redirection such as that might be dropping the URL parameters that Divi (et_fb=1) that Divi uses to indicate the visual builder should be used. I know the redirection plugin I use has the option do specify what to do with the URL parameters (e.g. ignore them, pass them through to the final page, etc). In this case you'd want to pass the parameters through so that the visual builder is still triggered.

Other than that, I'd suggest narrowing it down (if you haven't already) by disabling plugins one at a time (starting with the redirections plugin) to see where the redirect is coming from. If it's the redirections plugin you could then go down the route of individually disabling rules until the culprit is found. Also check in your site's .htaccess file to see if there are any homepage redirects in there.

Hey Dan, thank you for your reply.

I will try all of your suggestions and see if it's any better. Yesterday while trying to find a solution I uninstalled the redirection plugin I was using and deleted all the data, so the issue doesn't come from that particular plugin. I also enabled safe mode on Divi which I believe is the same as disabling all plugins if I'm not wrong, and it didn't work either.

Can I ask which redirection plugin you're using?

    Thank you

    You're welcome, Guillaume91.

Yeah, safe mode should be the same as disabling all plugins. I guess pay particular attention to the .htaccess file in that case as there aren't many other places where a redirect could be hiding.

    I'm using this redirection plugin:

    https://wordpress.org/plugins/redirection/

One possible workaround in the meantime might be to temporarily set a different page as the homepage then edit your (former) homepage before setting it back as the actual homepage. You could perhaps creates an "undergoing maintenance" page to use for this.

    Good luck with it!

That's a great idea, I'll create a maintenance page and set it as the homepage, should definitely do the trick in the meantime.
I'll also check out the plugin as well.

    Thanks for your help Dan!
