All posts suddenly showing the same content

    Hi everyone,
I’ve run into an issue I haven’t seen before. One of our users was editing a post in Divi, and now all posts are displaying the exact same content.

At first, I suspected a database issue, but after checking in cPanel, everything looks fine — the original post content is still there in the database. However, on the front end, every post (including newly created ones) shows the same text.

Looking closer in the Divi Builder, it seems that the content of the latest post had been pasted as plain text into all posts. I’ve removed that duplicated text, but now the posts don’t display any content at all.

It also seems like the Posts template may have been edited accidentally instead of an individual post. The problem is, I can’t add a “Post Content” module to the template — I only have the option to add text modules, and those obviously don’t pull in dynamic post content.

    So my questions:
    • Is it possible that the Posts template was modified in a way that overrides all post content?
    • How can I restore the default post template behavior?
    • And how can I properly re-enable dynamic post content if the Post Content module is missing?
    • Also, for future posts, what should I do differently to prevent this issue from happening again?
Any help would be greatly appreciated!

    Thanks in advance

    Hi Franciska,

Perhaps this was due to Divi 4's "Full Site Editing" feature?:

    https://www.elegantthemes.com/blog/theme-releases/full-site-front-end-editing

It lets you edit the templated parts of the page while editing an individual post.

Unfortunately it'd be easy for your users to copy or move content from the post into the template area, inadvertently adding it to all posts.

To disable the feature, I believe you'd need remove your users' permission to access the "Theme Builder" in "Theme Builder" in "WP Admin > Divi > Role Editor > {user role} > Theme Builder". Remove it for the role your users use, but leave it enabled for the role you (or your web designer) uses so that you can still edit the templates when needed.

You can also disable it for your own profile from within the visual builder's "Builder Settings" menu by turning off the "Theme Builder Template Editing" setting. You could ask your user to do this, but note that they could switch it back on if they chose to.

One possibility for why you can't add the "Post Content" module back in is that it is disabled for your user role in the role editor. If that's the case, you should be able to re-enable it for your user role at "WP Admin > Divi > Role Editor > {user role} > Module Use > Post Content". If you don't have access that you may be logged in as a less-privileged role such as the "Editor" role. If you instead login as an admin user you should be able to make the changes...

    I hope that helps!
