At my wits' end...

    I have literally spent over 100 hours trying to stabilize my Divi-based website. I've been using Divi and Elegant Themes legacy themes for years and I've never had problems like this. This is a 1200 page website which is really just 1200 biographies of men who fought in World War II. Nothing special about it, just a title in the post, a headshot of the soldier, and a bio. The bios can be long, as much as 30K in text, I suppose. There's a "related posts" and a "next/previous" navigation section at the end.

    I started this website out on my GoDaddy VPS server, but it started pegging the CPU and I was running out of memory, so I moved it to a shared host at Mochahost. That allowed me to upgrade to PHP 7.2 and have more Wordpress-friendly support.

    I am trying to run about 20 plug-ins. Stuff like Admin Columns, Redirection, Wordfence, Divi Booster, Divi Ultimate Archive, Related Posts By Taxonomy, etc. I've made adjustments to my PHP options as suggested, and I've tried optimizing my database tables, etc. But nothing seems to work. As soon as I open up a post to edit, the memory starts getting chewed up and the CPU usage goes through the roof. I get a "Divi Builder failed to load" and then I can't do anything on the page. Sometimes it's just a 500 Internal Server error.

    I've tried the "Deactivate all plug-ins" to find out which plug-in may be causing the problem, but that's resulted in only on real finding - the site works consistently only when there are NO plug-ins activated. Obviously, that really defeats the purpose of using Wordpress to run this site. This is causing me sleepless nights and I feel like I'm letting these heroes and their families down. It took a massive effort to migrate these 1200 pages into Divi, and we all know how impossible it is to move away fro Divi after you've made the commitment to Divi.

    So now I'm looking for some professional help. We don't have money to spend on this, as it's an all-volunteer effort. I'd love to partner with someone to figure out what to do next, and hopefully get this thing straightened out. If you can help, please let me know.

    The website is https://bataanproject.com.

    Here's an excerpt from my info.php output file:
    max_execution_time 300
    max_file_uploads 20
    max_input_nesting_level 64
    max_input_time -1
    max_input_vars 5000
    memory_limit 128M
    output_buffering 4096
    post_max_size 128M

    And here's my .htaccess:
    # BEGIN WordPress
    <IfModule mod_rewrite.c>
    RewriteEngine On
    RewriteBase /
    RewriteRule ^index\.php$ - [L]
    RewriteCond %{REQUEST_FILENAME} !-f
    RewriteCond %{REQUEST_FILENAME} !-d
    RewriteRule . /index.php [L]
    </IfModule>
    # END WordPress
    <IfModule mod_substitute.c>
    SubstituteMaxLineLength 10M
    </IfModule>

    Thanks in advance for any help or advice.

    Since deactivating all plugins does work, it might mean that some of your plugins are causing the issue. What about trying to enable your plugins one by one & see which one is causing the issue?

    Or perhaps you should refer to the official Divi support & see how they can help you on this issue: https://elegantthemes.com/members-area/help/

    Well, unfortunately, a lot of the long days I've spent troubleshooting this have been spent doing just that. Deactivate all plug-ins, activate a plug-in, attempt to load Divi Builder. Unfortunately, there's no consistency to the time when it breaks. It's apparently tied to seeing the CPU usage rate spike, and that doesn't seem to be easy to tie to a specific plug-in.

    Thanks -- I'll go to ET for additional support.

    Stephen, did you get any resolution to this? Your complaint is the closest to what I've encountered recently.

    I have a similar issue and also cannot find any solution really. So would be happy to hear how you guys fixed it.

    I use the exact same plugins with divi on several websites but this one is the only one showing these issues.
