    Hello,

I am interested buying your child themes package in order to build my brand new website..! From all your homepages most likely I will use the gym & fitness one.

I have a couple of questions though before purchasing the child themes. Not wanting to spam your forum I will post all my questions in this thread.

    1. Is there any way I can build a resistration page where visitors could fill a registration form and become members to my website. I will use Memberpress plugin for the process but I was wondering if I can design the page in a custom way using your sections.

    2. May I customise the theme I will install (gym & fitness) in color, buttons, images overlays, typography (size, fonts) ect? Like the way we can customize the Divi theme 3.0

    Regards,
    John

    1. I've never tested it with Memberpress plugin. Basically, if Divi theme 3.0 can design the registration page using the divi builder, then our Divi child theme will have no problem doing that as well. Perhaps you can consult ElegantThemes support team about that.

    2. Yes, you can customize it the same way as you customize Divi theme 3.0. We only pre-built tons of beautiful layouts & sections for you to use.

You say that you regularly update your theme.
How does updating of your child theme work, when there was custom work done?

    1. First of all, it's totally optional to update our child theme for current website. Unless you want to use the new design layouts in your curent website.

    2. Secondly, most of our updates only include editing of CSS file in our child theme & importing new Divi library items. So, any of your custom work done will not be affected.
**The one thing you shouldn't do is editing our child theme CSS file directly. You should add your custom CSS in Divi theme options.

Let me know if you have any other questions.

For CSS custom made changes I see the preferred way and thank you for stressing this point again :)
But what about PHP and JS changes? Since updating of a child theme is optional, I assume that there is no real effective way (yet) to preserve custom PHP functions in functions.php during update process...
What do you recommend? Is there a way to preserve custom PHP (or JS) other than copy 'n paste before updating?

To update our child theme, you need to do it manually. You can't update it through dashboard like Divi theme.

We will include the manual update instruction for every new updates. Most of the time, it only requires 2 simple steps.
    1. Appearance -> Editor -> Replace the old CSS our new CSS code.
    2. Import new Divi library items.

    That's it.

Mostly, we will only edit the CSS file & didn't touch on the function php file or any other files. So, all your custom php / js will remain intact with our child theme.

**But in v3.0, we might add blog php file for a new default blog style. For this case, you will need to use ftp / cPanel to upload the file to your server, only if you want to use the new default blog style.

Since all our updates are done manually, you will know whether our updates will overwrite your custom work or not. I would say that the chances of overwriting your custom works are pretty slim.

Just a heads up. In the coming v3.0, we will add new functionalities to Divi Ultimate. But fear not, all the new functionalities will be added to our new plugin. By doing that, you can stop worrying about our child theme update will overwrite your custom works. Cause you can know for sure that we will only edit the CSS file in our child theme and nothing else. All the extra coding will be done in our new plugin.
