Filter custom posts with custom taxonomies

    I've built myself a custom blog module (duplicating and editing Divi's default blog module). However, I can't work out how to filter my custom posts with custom taxonomies/categories? Adding the following line 'taxonomy_name' => 'region_categories' displays my custom taxonomies as options within the blog settings but doesn't actually filter the posts when selecting one? I wonder if anyone can help? Thank you
