How do I truncate a bulleted listed?

    I am working on truncating a bulleted list and cant seem to make it work I tried this code:

    <ul id="info">
    <li>item</li>
    <li>item</li>
    <li>item</li>
    <li>item</li>
    <li>item</li>
    <li>item</li>
    <li>item</li>
    <li>item</li>
    </ul>
    <button type="button" onclick="showAll();">Show All</button>

    But I only want it to show the first three items on the page with the show all page to reveal more of the items on the list. Can anyone assist?
