Image cross fade on cursor hover. Possible?

I've got a background image that changes to a different image on hover, but the effect is very abrupt. There's no smooth transition from one image to the other.

Does Divi have a built-in way to achieve a cross fade upon hover or would this require custom CSS?

Fading can only be achieve if you have 2 container with background image & set the top one to opacity 0 upon hover.

What I could think of is that a section with a background image is entirely cover with 'position absoute' row with background image. And set the hover opacity CSS to achieve what you want.

Or perhaps an easier way is to add the additional background image using the pseudo before element of the section.
