Solved Layered Design: cannot get two columns of one row to overlap

    Hi guys,

    I am trying to recreate this design on Divi:

    I have created a row with two columns: left column for the purple circle, and right one for the photo.
    Here is the wireframe from my design:

    I want to use negative left padding on the image to make it go to the left part, to be layered below photo.
    But when I change this left padding nothing changes in the layout:

    What am I doing wrong? I tried all possible ways to center image against its parent:
