    Can I disable the child theme or at least disable updates remotely for the child theme on a client website?

    For updates, you will need to delete the old assistant plugin & install the new one. For example: https://divi.help/threads/divi-ultimate-v8-0-2.7137/#post-22888
    **Thus, they can't update it through Wordpress dashboard.

    Though, you are not able to disable their child theme. Once it's install on their site, they can use it freely.
