Messed up site with small foote.php edit

I want to remove some wording from main page footer "Designed by xxx" with a link. and just removed what I thought was the correct line (it was displaying just before the "Powered by Wordpress" part) using Appearance - Editor - footer.php. But managed to mess up the front page now not displaying correctly at all.
