Solved Missing Post Content Module - Theme Builder

Discussion in 'Free Divi Community Forum' started by Leigha Phelps-McMullen, Oct 24, 2019.

  1. I've downloaded 4.0, and I'm using the new Theme Builder to create a template layout for all of my product pages. I already had a layout saved in my library from pre-4.0, so I simply uploaded it as the body of a new template, and I set the template to apply to "All Products." I saved the changes, and everything seemed to be fine until I went to open up one of the products...a box pops up on my screen that says, "Missing Post Content Module." It goes on to state that in order to use dynamic content in the Theme Builder template, I have to have a "Post Content Module" in my layout (which, I don't have). Has anyone else experienced this? What have you done to fix this issue?

Then you just have to go to WP Admin > Divi > Theme Builder to edit your product page template & add a "Post Content Module" in it.
**The "Post Content Module" is only available if you're editing in Theme Builder.

Basically, the "Post Content Module" will output the content of your product description.

  3. Thanks, but I'm confused. During the tutorials by Divi and others on how to use the Theme Builder to create a "universal" Product template, there was no mention of having to use the Post Content Module . . . I guess I don't understand why it's necessary. In addition, when I added it (just to see what it would do), it looked very out of place on a product page. Am I missing something?

    Hey,

I had the same problem. So I contacted Divi but they could not help me (yet!...they reply very fast and have a very good support).
So I figured out a temporary solution to avoid this message every time when I want to edit a product.
I just added the post-content-module, gave it a css class and set it to "display: 'none'" so the module is there, which prevents the message, but it can't be seen on the page.
I don't know if this is a good solution but hopefully it is just temporary and it is working for me.

OK, what you need to do is follows [assuming you are starting from scratch, dont add any header, footer nothing]

1st Step - Go to your WP Dashboard - VISIT SITE
    2. Click on Enable Visual Builder
    3. Add whatever template you want - SAVE
    4. THEN to back to THEME BUILDER
    5. Finally - work on the header and Footer.

If you follow this process, you should be OK.

I was searching yesterday for a different problem i'm having with Theme Builder, i originally had the same error pop-up and found a workaround.

At the top of your Template from Divi Builder, add the post content module as it's asking.
Then go to Module Settiings > advanced > Visibility and set all to hidden
Also, add the following to Custom CSS in the Main Element of the post content module

    Code:
Log In or Sign Up to view this code.
It's a workaround that i found, the post content module is within your template and its hidden. The rest of your layout displays as intended, and it removes the error pop up also

Has anyone else found another solution for this? From my understanding, display:none is a pretty undesirable way to handle unwanted content, because it's still loading the dynamic info in the background and negatively affects your page speed.

Guys I'm desperate I don't understand. I create a new page, click on activate the builder and it gives me this error screen.

"This post has been assigned a template using the Theme Builder, however, the template being used does not contain a Post Content module.
A Post Content module is required in order to add unique content within the Theme Builder template. Once a Post Content module has been added to the template, you will be able to add unique post content within that area for each post using the template."

I inserted in the header and footer the post module with css display: none but it doesn't work

I believe it's referring to the Custom Body area for WP Admin > Divi > Theme Builder

Try to add the Post Content module in the Custom Body area.

I just spoke with my developer, and he explained that this error only shows if you have a template (including a "default" template), and you try to edit the whole page of a page (with a template) using the visual builder directly from the site.

You have to go to the template in the Divi Theme Builder part of your WordPress admin area,, and edit the page from there (should be the "Body" rather than the Header or Footer)

Trying to edit the whole page breaks the software.

Hi, this worked for me- thanks. I can now not see the message. However, I've just tried making changes and adding new posts and I can't see any of my new content. It's still stuck showing the old content. Can you help?!

    I had the same problem and the same solution however;

    • I had add the modal to a new row, since the other rows had desktop and Mobile visibility settings
    • The change is not reflected in the browser I used to do this, only in a new incognito widow.
    • Kind of strange one must add something only to hide it.
    Regards

I followed RJH's solution above, it removed the missing post content message but now visual builder doesn't work and I cannot reveal the module to delete it.
