I want to create a simple shop where only the categories are listed and when you reach the bottom category, the products are shown.

    Example:
    Shop page:
    Category 1 | Category 2 | Category 3
    You click on Category 2:
    Subcategory 1 | Subcategory 2
    You click on Subcategory 1:
    Product 1 | Product 2 | Product 3

How can I achieve something like this with Divi and why is it so darn complicated?

What I need to create is a custom All Product Categories template but what do I put in there? If I put a shop module, it shows the products directly, with no categories first.

I did that, however, I am now unable to create custom templates for All Product Categories. If I add a shop module there, it shows all of the products directly (from all subcategories) while I want to show subcategories until you've opened the bottom level subcategory where you will get to see the products in it.

All product categories template will apply to all categories, including subcategories. Thus I don't think you can separate out different templates for bottom level subcategory. I guess the only way is to manually create template for each bottom level subcategories. But I may be wrong. You might want to refer official Divi support & see what they say: https://www.elegantthemes.com/members-area/help/
